Preventing Pastoral Car Wrecks

I heard of another pastoral car wreck the other day (Art Azurdia). My heart breaks for this, and I’m so tired of hearing of pastors falling. That is why we must heed these wise words of Dave Harvey.

The Lost Spiritual Discipline

Yeah, that’s not one I remember hearing much about.

Five “Short-Timers” Who May Not Stay Long at Your Church

Joel is right about these. We always get excited when people want to join our church—but we should temper that excitement a bit when some of these red flags go up.

Five Reasons it is Painful For a Pastor to Lose a Church Member

I wonder if some of this might be alleviated if our identity wasn’t so wrapped up in the local church. But it’s also unavoidable to have this pain when you have a true shepherds heart.

  1. Hi
I just “found” your site this morning and have been enjoying a few of your articles. I will check in again from time to time.
But – sorry to be a bit of an editor, but I think in this passage you meant to write “temper” not “tempter”. (see below)

    • Thank you so much, Helen. I’ll get that fixed. Appreciate you reading.

  2. Mike, I read your Never Hillary/Hecer Trump article. Maybe it’s time to admit how wrong you were. Once again we see “His ways are not our ways”. And once again He choices to use a jackass to accomplish one of His goals. And the Supreme Court will be weighted in Biblically based logic, no thanks to Never-Trump’ers.

    • Scott, I’m not sure what article you are referencing. None of my concerns have been alleviated. I’m pleased with some of what our President has done, I’m hopeful with the SCOTUS appointments. But my concerns aren’t with those things. We could have conservative Supreme Court justices, push back liberalism, end abortion and forfeit the gospel. I’m not saying we have or that we are. But I don’t think we can measure the impact of the current times until quite a bit down the road. So, we’ll see.
